Hey there! So, I’m in the process of trying to sell my house out in the country. It’s been a bit of a struggle – I’ve had to drop the price a couple of times, and now it’s sitting right around the county’s assessed value and what Zillow thinks it’s worth. The real estate market in my area has been pretty slow, which hasn’t been helping matters.
The house itself is empty, and I’ll be honest, it could use a bit of work. It’s currently listed for just under $400k, and I recently got an offer for $10k less than that. Not ideal, but hey, it’s something. Then came the inspections, and the potential buyers came back with a counteroffer that was a whopping $105k less than their original offer. Talk about a lowball!
Now, here’s where things get a little weird. The offer came from another agent within the same brokerage that I’m using to sell the house. And to make things even more interesting, there were some pretty harsh comments about the property included in the offer. I mean, seriously, it felt like they were just trying to tear the place down. It all feels a bit shady to me, especially since there’s a clause in our contract specifically stating no dual agency.
I’ll be honest, I’m feeling a bit out of my depth here. I’m not exactly an expert when it comes to real estate, so I’m really hoping to get some advice on how to handle this situation. It just doesn’t sit right with me, and I want to make sure I’m not getting taken advantage of.
If anyone out there has been through something similar or knows a thing or two about how these things work, I’d really appreciate any guidance you can offer. Thanks for taking the time to read this – it means a lot to have some support during this whole selling process.
