Hey, so we’re out here in North Carolina, trying to snag ourselves a new crib. Our real estate agent just hit us with a curveball – they’re saying we can’t be around for the home inspection. Apparently, only the agent and the buyer can be present, and we can swoop in for the last half-hour just to catch a quick recap. That’s got us scratching our heads ’cause in all our previous house-buying adventures, even in a different state, we’ve always been able to tag along for the inspection.
So, we’re left wondering, is this a legit rule or are we missing something here? And to add to the confusion, we didn’t even get a say in choosing the inspector. Our agent went ahead and scheduled one without asking us, and we’re in the dark about who this mystery inspector even is.
But hey, update time – we’ve decided to put our foot down. Politely, of course. We told our agent, “No dice with your pick of inspector, we’re bringing in our own.” It’s time to do some shopping around and find an inspector we can trust. Things have been moving at lightning speed, and while we’ve been leaning on our agent to guide us, it’s become crystal clear that no one’s gonna look out for our best interests better than us.
Big shoutout to everyone who chimed in with their advice – it’s been a real eye-opener. We’re taking charge of this house-hunting journey, one step at a time.
