Can Your Walls Be Causing Allergies in Your Home?

So, I was dealing with some serious allergy problems at home. I tried everything – new floors, new ducts, even new AC units. But nothing seemed to work. Then, I decided to repaint the walls, trim, and ceiling. And guess what? That did the trick! I never realized how much the walls could affect indoor air quality. We hadn’t painted in over 15 years, thinking everything was fine. But boy, was I wrong!

My symptoms were a nightmare – a constant nasal drip at night, leading to mucus issues in the mornings, and just an overall feeling of unwellness in the room. I even had HEPA filters and good MERV 11 filters in the AC units, but nothing helped. But now, things have been great for a while, and I couldn’t be happier.

I know, I know, it’s probably common sense to most of you. But hey, I finally cracked the code, so cut me some slack! I just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is struggling with mysterious allergy issues at home. It’s all about those walls, folks!

In the end, we went with Duration matte for most of the painting, and Emerald trim paint, both from Sherwin Williams. It was a bit of a hassle to do it all myself, but it was totally worth it. So, if you’re facing similar troubles, maybe give your walls a fresh coat of paint a shot. It might just be the game-changer you need for a sniffle-free, allergy-free home!
