Who Owns My Home After Foreclosure: Senior or Junior Lien?

So, here’s the deal – my house got sold at a foreclosure sale back in September 2025. The winning bid came from the junior mortgage bank, and it was for the exact amount I owed them. They’re now the ones listed in the county records as holding the deed. The redemption period lasted for 6 months, and it ended a few weeks ago.

Fast forward to now – I just got out of the hospital after having a heart attack at the end of February. I’m trying to catch up on my mail, and boy, did I get hit with a bombshell. Turns out, the house got foreclosed on again in February, this time by the senior mortgage bank. And get this – there was an overbid of 97k.

But here’s the kicker – I can’t find any mail or online records confirming this second foreclosure sale. However, the junior mortgage holder took me to court in March. And guess what? They won that 97k because I didn’t show up. Yeah, I had no clue about the court date; I only found out about it now from the court documents in my mail.

So, now I’m left scratching my head, wondering who I should hand the keys over to. I don’t have any proof of who actually owns my home now or when I need to be out. I’ve already moved in with family because, let’s face it, I can’t keep paying the utilities at a house that’s been foreclosed on.

To top it all off, I received a summons to appear in court in May from the junior lienholder to evict me. But hold up – shouldn’t the senior lienholder be the rightful owner now? It’s a total mess, and I’m just trying to figure out where I stand in all of this.

So, yeah, that’s my current situation – caught in the middle of a foreclosure whirlwind, recovering from a health scare, and now facing eviction. Life sure knows how to throw a curveball, huh?
