“Are Real Estate Listings Misleading? How to Avoid Getting Scammed”

So, I stumbled upon a listing that made me think, “Wow, this is the one!” based on the pictures. I was so impressed that I decided to embark on a cross-country trip at a moment’s notice to see it in person. However, when I arrived, reality hit hard. The house was musty and dank, the once beautiful pool was drained and filled with critters. It turns out the pictures were outdated by a couple of years. I won’t go into specifics, but needless to say, I was not happy. I do like the property, but my trust in the selling agent has taken a hit.

I’m left wondering, is this a common trick used by realtors to lure buyers in? And if not, how can I protect myself from falling into a similar situation in the future? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and I hope I’m not in the wrong place to ask these kinds of questions!
