Hey, everyone! So, my wife and I made the plunge and bought a house back in 2020 during the lockdown. We snagged a killer interest rate at 2.85% which was a major win. The house is in a dream neighborhood – top-notch schools and friendly neighbors all around. But here’s the kicker: we’re gearing up to welcome baby number three, and our current space just isn’t cutting it anymore.
Now, we’re facing the daunting task of house hunting in this crazy market. Prices are through the roof, and we’re looking at potentially tripling our mortgage just to snag a slightly bigger place. Yikes. On the bright side, we’re hoping to sell our current home at a nice profit – we’re talking a cool 100k or more – to help soften the blow of buying a new house.
Our current setup is a ranch-style home, and I’m torn. Should we go the route of adding a second story, or is it smarter to ditch our awesome interest rate and go for a new home altogether? It’s a tough call, and I’m reaching out to the universe for any nuggets of wisdom you might have.
