Have I Been Out of Touch With Real Estate for Too Long? Why I Decided to Quit After 8 Years and 300 Closed Deals

More time than I care to admit browsing job postings, but still can’t seem to find anything that I feel is a good fit.

After 8 years in real estate, I finally made the decision to call it quits. Although I had a successful career, I was never a fan of the industry. Before the pandemic, I had the Midas touch and everything I touched I sold. I even became a principal broker with a few agents working under me. However, the pandemic changed my outlook and I no longer wanted to be a part of it. Prices soared and people acted like they were hitting the lottery. Every offer was unfavorable and I could no longer stomach it. After trying to look for other job postings, I couldn’t find anything that was a good fit. I just had to call it quits.

Real estate is a great career path for many. It can be very lucrative and you are your own boss. However, in this post-pandemic world, I am no longer interested in being a part of it. I have seen too much greed and it left me feeling sick. The thought of “selling” a home or doing any cold calling makes me want to pluck my eyes out. I need something new and different and I just don’t think real estate is the place for me anymore.

I am thankful for my experience in real estate. It taught me a lot about business and I was successful at it. But I am ready for something new and I know that I can find it. I just need to be patient and keep looking. I know that something is out there waiting for me.
