Is Dropping the Price the Right Move for Selling?

So, here’s the deal. My partner and I teamed up with this agent, and he suggested putting our house on the market for a cool 600k. We were like, “Sounds good, let’s roll with it.” Because, you know, we’re not exactly experts in this real estate game. Fast forward 19 days, and our listing on Zillow is just sitting there, gathering dust. So, I decided to do a bit of digging yesterday, and what do I find out? Our house is totally overpriced at 600k. And to top it off, we’ve only had a measly 4 showings in those 19 days. Talk about a reality check.

Naturally, I’m a bit peeved that I didn’t do my homework earlier and wasted three whole weeks. Time is money, after all. But hey, no point crying over spilt milk, right? I figure dropping the price to 549k is the way to go. We’d still be making a tidy sum, so it’s a win-win situation, in my book. I shoot off an email to our agent, expecting his usual speedy reply. But nada, zilch, no response. Weird. This guy is usually on the ball.

So, I decide to take matters into my own hands and reach out to his boss. She swings by to check out the house and, surprise, surprise, she agrees that we’ve got the price tag all wrong. Another email to the agent, asking for that price drop on the MLS. And guess what? Still no reply. Now, I’m starting to think maybe I hurt his feelings by calling our house overpriced. I mean, technically, it was my husband and him who set the price, but come on, we need to get this show on the road. The clock is ticking, and we’re crashing at the in-laws’ place until this place sells.

I’m all about efficiency, so I’m itching to slash that price tag pronto. But then, a tiny voice inside my head wonders if I’m being a bit too pushy. Am I in the wrong for wanting to lower the price, especially when the agent’s boss agrees that we’re way off the mark? It’s not like I’m asking for the moon here. All I want is for this house to sell quickly, so we can finally bid farewell to the in-laws and move on with
