Is r/DIY Still a Place for Learning and Sharing?

Hey, have you noticed how r/diy has been feeling off lately? It’s supposed to be a cool spot where we can all share tips, ask questions, and learn new things. But lately, it feels more like a fancy club with strict rules rather than a friendly community. You know what I’m talking about? The issue is u/arenovator, one of the moderators, has been on a mission to delete posts left and right—especially those from folks who are just starting out and need some guidance. It’s like they only want to hear from the pros, which totally goes against the whole DIY vibe. Like, come on, isn’t the whole point of Do It Yourself to, well, do it yourself? Not everyone’s gonna have perfect grammar or know all the technical jargon, right? By axing these posts, it’s like they’re sending a message that beginners aren’t welcome here. And that’s not cool. If you wanna see for yourself, just check out u/arenovator’s post history. You’ll see a ton of deleted posts—many from people genuinely seeking help. It’s frustrating, unnecessary, and totally misses the mark on what this community is all about. Moderators are meant to guide and encourage us, not shut us down. r/DIY deserves better, don’t you think?
