Is the Tennessee Lake House Market About to Crash?

So, I’ve been on the hunt for a lake house in Tennessee for about half a year now. I finally narrowed down my search to one specific lake, and I made it a non-negotiable that the house must have a dock. Recently, I visited two properties with my realtor, and let me tell you, I was shook by the prices compared to the quality of what we saw. And get this, my realtor drops a bomb on me, saying, “Honestly, it’s insane how fast these prices have shot up. None of these lake houses meet my personal standards of quality, unless you’re ready to splash out on one of those fancy new multi-million-dollar homes.” He then casually suggests that maybe I should hold off for a year or two to see if the prices come crashing down.

Now, coming from a realtor who specializes in this lake area, this whole spiel sounded a bit out there to me. I mean, we had a pre-approval letter from the bank for way more than what those houses were going for. Plus, we had only spent a couple of hours with this guy, so it’s not like he was fed up with showing us properties.

I can’t help but wonder if anyone else is picking up on the doom and gloom vibes my realtor was putting out there. Maybe he was just having a rough week, or maybe he’s onto something. Who knows? But it definitely got me thinking about whether I should hold off on making a move or take the plunge now.
