Hey there, times are tough right now, especially for us regular folks who aren’t rolling in dough. I’ve been thinking about slashing $100 off next month’s rent as a little Christmas bonus for my tenants. But, I don’t want them to think I’m being soft or trying to become best buddies with them.
I mean, my employer usually hands out a small cash gift every Christmas, and I’ve never considered it as them trying to win my friendship. It’s just a nice gesture that I appreciate, but don’t take for granted. The same principle could apply to being a landlord, right?
So, after getting some feedback, I’ve decided to treat my rental properties like a business. I get it, some folks compared it to banks and mortgages, but I can’t stand big corporations, so I’m going with gift cards instead. Turns out, I’m not a heartless monster after all, just trying to spread some holiday cheer.
If my tenants take advantage of my goodwill, well, they won’t be on my nice list next year. But hey, I want to be the jolly landlord, not some grumpy Scrooge. Thanks for the advice, everyone!
