Are you wondering why some people decide not to buy a house based on the street name? We’ve all come across a unique street name before and noticed the impact it can have on potential buyers. From Mama Bear Ct to Tree Swallow, there’s a wide range of street names that can be a deal breaker for some.
Take 214 Broomrape Lane in Arizona, for example. It’s a nice place but I know some people who are put off by the name. I used to live in an area where nearly all the streets had the same name – 123 Samename Cir and 123 Samename Ct – and it caused a lot of confusion. The mail often got mixed up, which for me would be a deal breaker if I were considering buying a property.
I live near a street called Shades of Death Road, and some people have told me they wouldn’t be able to live there due to the name alone. Middletown, New Jersey also has a subdivision with some interesting names such as Orphanboy Court and GayBoy Court. People have even been known to steal the street signs!
I once showed a house on Sparkleberry Lane. The wife loved it but the husband hated it, ultimately deciding against buying the property. I still think it would have been a great buy.
In Cumming, Georgia, a subdivision has street names such as Mama Bear Ct and Tree Swallow. I find these names quite charming and would be more likely to buy a house in the area.
