Hey there! So, I recently got this Wayfair storage cabinet, roughly around 70 inches tall. I’m not exactly sure about the weight of it, but it’s a pretty hefty piece. I had this guy come in to install it, and he managed to hit three studs when mounting it, which was awesome. However, after the installation was done, I discovered that he used toggle bolts… in the studs. I’m not entirely sure if he went all the way through the stud or just into it, so I’m a bit concerned about whether the bolts actually opened up and gripped securely.
Now, here’s the kicker – this place is a rental. So, naturally, I’m starting to wonder if I’m in a bit of a pickle. The cabinet seems to be holding up fine for the past two nights, and thankfully, no wires or pipes were damaged during the installation. But, the holes in the drywall from the toggle bolts seemed quite large, around 1 inch in diameter. I’m starting to question whether the integrity of the stud might have been compromised.
To add to the mix, I just realized that I’m not even sure if the studs are made of metal or wood. The sound of the drilling didn’t give off a metallic vibe, but then again, I could be totally off base here. If they turn out to be wood studs, what kind of risk am I looking at?
I gotta admit, I’m feeling a bit anxious about this whole situation. It’s a new build condo, and the last thing I want is to cause any damage or have to deal with a major repair job down the line. So, should I be losing sleep over this, or am I just overreacting? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!
