So, I noticed a problem with the bathtub faucet in my new house. Basically, there’s this small 2mm gap between the faucet and the wall, and it’s only covered by silicone. When I pull the shower diverter, the faucet actually moves a bit. I reached out to the builder, and they said this is totally “normal” and all I have to do is add more silicone around the faucet. But here’s the thing – I’m not convinced. The faucet seems to be shifting, maybe even the pipe behind it, every time I use the diverter. Silicone seems like a temporary quick fix, not a long-term solution. I’m worried this could cause leaks or even damage inside the wall down the line. Shouldn’t the faucet be properly secured with a bracket or set screw, or at least stabilized in some way, instead of just sealing it with silicone? I want to know if anyone else has faced a similar issue – is the builder’s response okay, or should I stand my ground on this?
